NJEA Grant
Marie Corfield received a $5,000 NJEA grant that was put towards adult/child diapers and helping to fill gaps in United Way’s needed sizes. ShopRite helped to maximize this donation and was gracious in being able to deliver the diapers to the Volunteer Center.

FREA social chairs have been quite busy honoring our 2019-2020 Teachers and ESP’s of the Year as well as our 2020-2021 Years of Service recipients.

FREA Happenings
The FREA utilized NJEA Pride grants to show support in our community. Thank you to Marie Corfield for taking on this task and Sue Vala for helping to disperse the signs around town. The grants enabled us to purchase 100 lawn signs that were put around each of the schools’ entrances as well as other prominent places around town. The signs were printed in English and Spanish.
We also purchased 350 earbuds that will be included in the meals that will be picked up at schools on Monday, June 22. A small but meaningful way to show our students that we miss them.

The FREA had their second social of the school year at Lone Eagle Brewery on Oct. 23rd. Members had an opportunity to catch up with colleagues and enjoy some great door prizes to many local businesses and restaurants!

PTO Ice Cream Social
On September 15, 2017, Barley Sheaf Elementary School had their annual PTO Ice Cream Social. The Flemington-Raritan Education Association Pride Committee provided the “mood spoons” for this PTO event.
Barley Sheaf Teachers Kathy Mikalsen, Jackie Quinn, Anne McDougald, Kari Rowe and Lisa Davis volunteered at the FREA table.
Over 400 “moon spoons” donated by the FREA Pride Committee were used to eat the delicious scoops of ice cream!
